THE
THINGS
I'VE BEEN GIVEN
A series inspired by my walks in nature

THE THINGS I'VE BEEN GIVEN.
What do you do to care for your soul? I walk in nature and listen. My walking ritual is sacred. It’s the gift I give to myself. The leaves blowing in the wind, my deer friends, the physical movement, and my favorite podcast are what I enjoy the most. Each day my walk is unique. I bring a new feeling to understand, a part of me to heal or a problem to solve. I walk to connect with my body and my soul. To be present. To breathe. To be with myself. I’m done with hustle culture. I’m choosing to go slow. I’m learning there is no rush and everything is a choice. Are you making the right decisions for you? I wasn’t. I was running, trying to keep up.
Now I walk. My newest series is inspired by my walks at home and in my favorite place out West. The broken down abstracted landscapes capture what I find important— the essence, the energy and the colors. Their simplicity purposefully mimics the effort I am taking to simplify my life. To find calm in the space I create and to live my life at my own pace. The intentional time I take with myself
on my walks is a love practice. I will never have this version of me again. So I slow down
to be with her. You and I deserve rest and to go slow. We have to take a pause because no
one is going to give it to us. So I ask again, what do you do to care for your soul?
